The international airport of Mumbai (Bombay)
is one of the major airports of India and is located 26 - 30km (16-19
miles) north of the city centre at Sahar. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International
Terminal (Terminal 2) is situated 4km (2.5 miles) from the Domestic Terminal
(Terminal 1) with a free coach service connecting the two and operating
every 20 minutes.
The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is well presented
for various means of onward travel. The easiest and most favoured way
(by tourists at least) of transferring to the city is by the use of taxi.
Metered taxis can be found outside the airport, but in order to eliminate
any uncertainty over fares, it could be considered preferable to use the
prepaid taxi service bookable within the terminal building. The journey
time by taxi to the city centre is around 90 minutes. Motor Rickshaws
are also available but are not allowed into the city centre and are really
not suitable for such a long journey.
A regular bus service operates between the airport and the city of Mumbai.
When using this service to travel from the city to the airport be aware
that the heavy congestion of the roads will result in a journey time that
could be in excess of 2 hours. Be sure to allow yourself extra time to
allow for any unexpected further delays.
A prepaid coach service to destinations in the southern states plus Intercity
coach services can be booked in the Arrivals areas of Terminal 2. A metro
rail system runs to the nearby airport Mumbai CST Terminus and Churchgate
for connections to Mumbai and destinations throughout India. A railway reservation
counter is also situated in Terminal 2.
Car hire companies can be found in the arrivals halls of both terminals
however we do not recommend that tourists or visitors hire self-drive cars
in India due to the nature of Indian driving. Car hire with driver can be
arranged in arrivals.

Shivaji International Airport including live flight information
