
All UK to Kolkata (Calcutta) flights, will arrive
here. Located at Dum Dum, the airport is 18km (11 miles) from the city
and considered to be the gateway to the North Eastern States. The Netaji
Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport has separate terminals
for International and Domestic flights.
Metered taxis can be found outside the airport, but in order to eliminate
any uncertainty over fares, it could be considered preferable to use prepaid
taxis booked from a counter in the arrivals area. If you do opt to use
taxi's from outside the terminal, agree a price with the driver first.
The city's circular railway operates between Dum Dum station near the
airport and Princep Ghat near Strand Road. Trains run every 15 minutes
during peak hours and hourly at other times. The Metro Railway runs between
Dum Dum near the airport and the city centre every 10-15 minutes from
early morning until around 2200 in the evening.
A Bus service operates between the airport and the city centre every 10-15
minutes from earlymorning until around 2200 in the evening.
